The National League Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers will have to make do without young outfielder Jackson Chourio and flamethrowing rookie Jacob Misiorowski for a while longer.
Chourio is out for another 2-4 weeks due to his strained right hamstring, Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday.
Chourio hurt the hamstring running the bases on July 29 against the Chicago Cubs. He received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection and is showing improvement, according to Murphy.
In his second MLB season, Chourio, 21, has batted .276 with 17 home runs, 67 RBIs and 18 stolen bases through 106 games.
Meanwhile, Misiorowski last pitched on July 28 against Chicago and was scratched from his next start because of a left tibia contusion.
Murphy said Misiorowski threw a bullpen session Tuesday and could return for mid-August.
Misiorowski, 23, had a hot start to his career following a June call-up and was named an All-Star after an unprecedented five MLB games. In seven starts, Misiorowski is 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA and has 47 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings.
The Brewers have won seven of their past eight games as they continued a road series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.
