Switch-hitting utility player Willi Castro will join the Colorado Rockies after coming to terms on a two-year, $12.8 million deal, ESPN reported on Thursday.
Castro, 28, was a first-time All-Star in 2024 with the Minnesota Twins, but struggled offensively last season with the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs, hitting just .226 with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs in 120 games. He only hit .170 in 34 games with the Cubs after being traded just before the deadline.
A seven-year veteran, Castro brings versatility and solid defense to the table, having played first base, second base, shortstop, third base and all three outfield positions during his career.
Over 705 games (624 starts) with the Detroit Tigers (2019-22), Twins (2023-25) and Cubs, he is a .244 hitter with 56 home runs, 75 stolen bases and 228 RBIs.
