Fraser Minten's goal at 2:12 of overtime lifted the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.
After rushing up ice on a 2-on-1 with Morgan Geekie, the 21-year-old Minten buried a wrist shot from the right circle to secure Boston's second win in as many nights to begin the regular season.
Casey Mittelstadt, Tanner Jeannot and Elias Lindholm were the other scorers and Joonas Korpisalo made 21 saves for Boston, who tied Toronto for the longest active streak in the NHL with 10 straight home-opening victories.
Korpisalo's best work came in overtime, as he stopped Frank Nazar on a 2-on-1 all alone at the doorstep within the first minute before gloving Connor Bedard's break-in attempt.
Bedard and Andre Burakovsky led Chicago with a goal and an assist apiece. Louis Crevier also scored.
Arvid Soderblom made 29 saves in the Blackhawks net.
Boston had a 33-24 advantage in shots. The teams traded goals in all three regulation periods.
The Bruins lost defenseman Hampus Lindholm to a lower-body injury after 4:26 of ice time in the first period. Lindholm played in just 17 games last season due to a broken kneecap.
Elias Lindholm needed only 15 seconds of third-period time to take advantage of a 5-on-3. He finished a crisp passing sequence with Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak after the puck bounced off a Chicago defender in the crease.
Burakovsky finished off an easy rush into the offensive zone with a snapper from the high slot 2:22 into the final frame.
Soderblom backstopped Chicago's penalty kill of an Artyom Levshunov high-sticking call inside the final three minutes to extend the game past regulation.
The Bruins overcame Chicago's roaring start by scoring on their second shot 3:53 into the first period. Mittelstadt finished off a strong play from Boston's second line, shooting home a loose puck that Viktor Arvidsson funneled into the slot.
Bedard brought the Blackhawks back even at 8:19, taking Burakovsky's cross-ice pass into the left circle for a heavy one-time shot.
The visitors took their first lead on Crevier's one-time snipe from the top of the right circle at 2:22 of the second. The young defenseman scored high on Korpisalo's glove side.
Boston's cast of secondary scorers showed through again on a game-tying goal at 9:10 of the second. After Michael Eyssimont spun out of the corner and into the right circle, Jeannot slotted home a rebound that Soderblom left in the crease.
Korpisalo made a key save on Sam Rinzel's rush chance from the slot with 2:45 left in the second, allowing the Bruins to take the lead on the back end of their 5-on-3.
