Radek Faksa scored in the 10th round of the shootout to lift the St. Louis Blues over the visiting the Chicago Blackhawks 6-5 on Saturday night.
The Blues outshot the Blackhawks 40-20 through overtime, but they needed the marathon shootout to earn just their second victory in eight games (2-5-1).
Mathieu Joseph, Philip Broberg and Robert Thomas each had a goal and an assist for St. Louis.
Nathan Walker and Cam Fowler also scored for the Blues. Brayden Schenn and Pavel Buchnevich earned two assists and Jordan Binnington made 15 saves during the game and eight more in the shootout.
Ilya Mikheyev had a goal and two assists for the Blackhawks. Alec Martinez and Teuvo Teravainen had a goal and an assist, Craig Smith and Ryan Donato scored, and Nick Foligno had two assists.
Losing goaltender Arvid Soderblom made 35 saves through overtime and eight more in the shootout.
The Blackhawks took a 2-0 lead in the first 5:42 of the game. First, they struck on a 2-on-1 rush, with Patrick Maroon setting up Smith's goal off the right wing.
Just 38 seconds later, Donato stole an outlet attempt and worked a give-and-go play with Connor Bedard.
St. Louis scored twice within 10 seconds in the second period to tie the game 2-2.
Broberg scored at the 1:40 mark with a shot off Soderblom's glove from the left point. Then Walker cut into the high slot and snapped a wrist shot over Soderblom's blocker.
St. Louis sustained its pressure and finally broke through when Joseph scored with 2:51 left in the period.
Martinez tied the game 3-3 with a shot from atop the right circle 3:50 into the third period. Fowler answered with a left point shot that deflected in off Chicago defenseman Seth Jones 42 seconds later.
Teravainen tied the game 4-4 with a shot from the right end that Blues defenseman Ryan Suter deflected into his own goal. Then Mikheyev scored on a rush up the left wing to put the Blackhawks up 5-4 with 8:52 left
The Blues tied the game 5-5 with 4:37 left when Thomas scored during a goalmouth scramble.
