While the Las Vegas Aces aim to continue their early dominance, the Atlanta Dream simply eye back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
The visiting Aces try for a franchise-best 5-0 start when they face the Dream on Friday night.
The Aces have not been shy about boasting of their goal to become the first WNBA team to repeat as champions since Los Angeles in 2001-02. So far, Las Vegas' "super team" appears more than good enough to do so while averaging a league-high 96.5 points, allowing a league-low 71.8 per contest and posting an average victory margin of 24.7 points.
Jackie Young (23.0 points per game) leads four Las Vegas players averaging at least 14.3 points and scored 23 during Sunday's 94-73 win over Minnesota. The victory matched the 2011 squad for the best start (4-0) in franchise history.
"I want another ring," Aces star A'ja Wilson, averaging 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds, told The Athletic. "We know that the target on our back has gotten a lot bigger. With that being said, we work a lot harder."
The Aces have won eight of the last 10 meetings against Atlanta (2-2), which looks to build on Tuesday's impressive 83-65 rout of Chicago to improve to 1-1 on a five-game homestand. The Dream scored at least 83 points for a third straight contest and held the Sky to just 32.5-percent shooting.
"I (liked) our team effort (Tuesday)," Atlanta coach Tanisha Wright said. "Paying attention to the details and reminding them that they matter. I think we have to be a team that always focuses on those things because that's just how you win games."
Atlanta's Rhyne Howard is averaging a team-leading 17.8 points and has totaled 43 in the last two games.
Teammate Allisha Gray averages 17.0 points and a team-best 3.3 assists, while Cheyenne Parker is scoring 15.3 per game with a club-best 6.8 rebounds.
