The Los Angeles Rams will be without Justin Hollins for an undetermined period as the outside linebacker will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a partially torn pectoral muscle.
Coach Sean McVay made the announcement Monday, a day after Hollins got hurt during Los Angeles' 34-24 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hollins will be placed on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least three weeks.
"It's a big loss for us," McVay said. "Guys are going to be asked to step up."
Hollins, 25, made two tackles Sunday, increasing his season total to 12. He has two sacks this year, both coming in the season opener against the Chicago Bears, a game in which he forced a fumble. In three NFL seasons (with the Denver Broncos in 2019 and the Rams in 2020 and '21), Hollins has six sacks, two forced fumbles and 61 tackles.
The Rams plan to fill Hollins' spot with Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Terrell Lewis. Okoronkwo has yet to play this season due to a shoulder ailment, but he might be ready to return this week, according to McVay.
McVay added regarding Lewis, "He's definitely going to be a big factor, and you can look for him to play a lot more snaps moving forward."
In other injury news for the Rams (3-0), McVay said running back Darrell Henderson's status remains uncertain for this week's game against the visiting Arizona Cardinals. Henderson sat out against Tampa Bay due to a rib injury.
