Allie Quigley scored 22 points and Cheyenne Parker added 20 on Saturday as the Chicago Sky overcame the balanced Connecticut Sun attack in a 100-93 win in Bradenton, Fla.
Chicago (5-2) also received 17 points from Kahleah Copper and 14 from reserve Diamond DeShields.
Point guard Courtney Vandersloot dished out 11 assists for the Sky, who converted 55.2 percent of their field goal attempts and were an outstanding 29 of 32 at the foul line.
Despite placing six players in double figures, Connecticut fell to 1-6. Jasmine Thomas led the way with 22 points and six assists, while DeWanna Bonner and reserve Kaila Charles each chipped in 15 points.
Bria Holmes came off the bench to score 12, while Alyssa Thomas and Brionna Jones added 11 points apiece. The Sun wasted some excellent shooting, as they made 55.6 percent of their attempts from the field and drew 22 assists on 35 made buckets.
Holmes' 3-point play with 4:57 left in the game drew Connecticut within 87-83, but that's as close as it got. Chicago received six straight points from Parker in an 8-2 run.
Chicago set an early tone by taking a 15-6 lead just over 4 1/2 minutes into the game as Quigley drained her second 3-pointer, but Connecticut was able to respond. It rattled off eight straight points to pull within 19-18, and trailed just 23-22 after the first period.
The second quarter was more free-wheeling offense with not much defense mixed in. The Sky opened up a 39-29 lead on a 3-point play by Azura Stevens with 6:34 left in the half, but the Sun closed within four before Stevens hit a layup to make it 52-46 at intermission.
Connecticut drew within 71-69 after Holmes drained a 3-pointer with 1:31 remaining in the third quarter. However, Chicago rattled off 10 straight points in just 43 seconds and secured an 81-71 lead to the fourth period.
