Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Junior Guerra returned to the team Wednesday after previously testing positive for COVID-19.
His positive test was revealed only recently, but multiple outlets reported that he had since tested negative twice.
Guerra was one of four Diamondbacks players to test positive and had not participated in the team's preparations for the upcoming 60-game season. The reliever is believed to be the first MLB player to return to his team after a positive test.
Other Arizona players to test positive were right-hander Silvino Bracho, outfielder Kole Calhoun and first baseman Seth Beer.
Guerra, 35, is in his first season with the Diamondbacks after pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers the past four seasons. He was 9-5 with a 3.55 ERA in a career-best 72 appearances in 2019 and is 25-21 with a 3.81 ERA over 147 games (60 starts) in five seasons with the Brewers and Chicago White Sox.
