Rehabbing Danks could return to Sox next week
Email ANAHEIM -- If all goes well Saturday night in Buffalo, then John Danks' fourth Minor League rehab start and third with Triple-A Charlotte could be his last. Danks' big league comeback from season-ending arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Aug. 6 of last season would be complete with what would most likely be a start Friday night at U.S. Cellular Field against the Marlins. Hitting coach always had faith in players
Email ANAHEIM -- The .299 average posted by the White Sox over the last five games, to go with 25 runs scored, was a welcome sight for Jeff Manto. To be honest, the always-optimistic White Sox hitting coach never had a doubt his group would come around. He also understands that when an offense goes stagnant, the job that Paul Konerko once referred to as the toughest one in all of sports always ...

Sox view .500 as just a starting point
ANAHEIM -- After falling to a season-worst six games under .500, the White Sox are making a run back to the break-even point. That .500 mark is just a starting stage, according to Jake Peavy, who takes the mound in Sunday's series finale here. "We have a long way to go to be who we want to be," Peavy said. "But it's nice to get things started in the right ...

Taking Lives
Taking Lives is a flat, derivative psycho-thriller that suffers badly from having no chemistry between its two leads. Director D.J. Caruso and cinematographer Amir M. Mokri, who worked together on 2002s The Salton Sea, complicate it further by bathing most o ... ...

Thunder not considering amnesty clause for Kendrick Perkins MAY 18
Kendrick Perkins will be leaving Oklahoma City soon. Thunder GM Sam Presti said Saturday the team hasn't even considered using the amnesty clause on the embattled big man, despite the apparent deterioration in his performance the past few years. Once considered a talented defender, the kind of physical presence OKC would need to win postseason games, Perkins has devolved into an utterly ...

Kevin Garnett likely wont need ankle surgery MAY 18
Kevin Garnett likely will not require surgery this offseason as the team's medical staff believes rest will be enough to solve the problem. This is presumably good news as the future Hall of Famer contemplates whether he'll return for an 18th NBA season or decide to call it quits following the team's brief trip to the postseason. Garnett, 36, battled ankle issues throughout the ...

Chicago Chronicle
Chicago Chronicle | Current Chicago News & Illinois State HeadlinesThe Chicago Chronicle was first published as a newspaper on May 28 1895 serving the Chicago and surrounding areas. It was the only morning newspaper at the time and supported the Democratic party, although this changed in subsequent years. The Chicago Chronicle closed after publishing its final issue on May 31 1907, after a history of 12 years almost to the day. This new version of the Chicago Chronicle, which began publishing on September 11 2002 is essentially a local Chicago online newspaper, but with a national and international perspective, designed to provide readers with a one-stop shop for Chicago, national US, regional, and world news coverage, weather and sports information, with live updates on breaking business stories, and what's happening in the financial markets.
The biggest advantage we have is that we are an online newspaper, which means we are constantly refreshing our stories as more and more information comes to hand. Often when a story breaks the initial details are sketchy.
We and our sources around the world work hard to gather more information, verify facts, and provide a perspective of the major stories. Expert opinion often accompanies our articles to better inform readers, and provide a more complete understanding
of the news we deliver.
Financial markets and business reports are regular features as we pin down what's happening, and constantly refresh stock market indice readings, dollar currency rates, and breaking business news reports. Our world sports coverage is a priority, as is our regional news.
We like to think if you're looking for breaking news out of Chicago, Illinois, the United States, or the world, you'll look for it first at the Chicago Chronicle.
